Our pledge is to support you in your time of need with consideration, understanding and respect, for the deceased, their family and the wider community.
The Department of Internal Affairs’ Births, Deaths and Marriages office needs to be notified and the death registered by Gillions Funeral Services. This is a legal requirement and is important for probate or dealing with the will. The death certificate usually takes between several days and two weeks to arrive, and we recommend you advise us the name of the executor of the estate so it can be sent directly to them.
Many people find it therapeutic to send thanks to those who have acknowledged a loved one’s death by sending cards or flowers, or by attending the funeral. Gillions is able to print personalised acknowledgement cards, featuring a photo, wording and verses that you can choose. If you wish to send cards, we will happily produce a sample card for you.
In addition to cards, families may also decide to publish an acknowledgement notice in the newspaper. This is to thank individuals or organisations who have supported the family or expressed their sympathy after a bereavement. Alternatively, notices may feature a photograph of the deceased or a verse.
We are always happy to assist with arranging and preparing acknowledgment notices.
