Sharing Those Last Precious Moments

Families and friends often wish to come and see the deceased after their death. This can help with the acceptance of what has happened and provides a chance to spend time with them before the funeral. This may be sitting quietly, sharing a last cup of tea, playing some of their favourite music, or putting a flower or treasured photos or letters into their casket. (However, please check with your funeral director as to the suitability of items to be placed in the casket, particularly if the deceased is to be cremated.)

Most people find a viewing is far less stressful than they expected. It can be a great comfort to see a loved one looking peaceful. Children often accept death remarkably well when given the chance to see the family member who has died.

You may wish to have your loved one come home to stay with you, or at a marae, or other venue for a few days prior to the funeral. We are happy to arrange this with you  and can arrange the transportation and can visit daily to make sure that all is well.

You may of course prefer not to view; this is a personal choice and something you will need to decide at the appropriate time.
