Passed away peacefully, surrounded by his devoted family, on Friday 21 November 2025 at Otago Community Hospice, aged 78 years, after courageously facing leukaemia.
Beloved husband of Carol for more than 50 years. Cherished father and lifelong friend of Justin and Dallas. Dearly loved brother of Ann. Proud grandad to Lily, Sofia, Archie and Sebastian. Much loved father-in-law of Anna and Kylie, and brother-in-law of Arthur and Lorraine. Much loved son of the late Leonard Roy and Anne Venables and son-in law of the late Arthur and Margaret Hancock.
A heartfelt thank you from the family to the staff at Otago Community Hospice and on Ward 8C of Dunedin Hospital for their care and support.
A loyal friend to many and a founding member of the Otago Classic Motoring Club. Colin has set off on his final journey in his treasured GMC V8 truck “Goldie” and will be deeply missed.
According to Colin’s wishes, a family farewell will take place this week. A celebration of Colin’s life and his passion for vintage vehicles will be held in the new year.

Passed away peacefully surrounded by family on November 5 at the Otago Community Hospice after a brief stay. It had followed an 18-month battle with blood myeloma; aged 73 years.
Stephen is the much-loved husband of Jan, father of Nichola, Ryan, Adam and Steve, father-in-law to Clarence, grandfather aka ‘Pops’ of Marley. son of the late Bill and Jessie Keen, brother and brother in law of Bill and the late Heather, and Graeme and the late Karyll.
The family would like to thank the Dunedin Hospital oncology ward, Otago Community Hospice, and St John Dunedin for their incredible care and engaging in good banter with Stephen as was his way.

On Thursday 4th September as a result of a tragic accident, Stephen lost his life doing something that he loved, Motorcycling. Stephen was the youngest son of Fred and Raylene Burton (*) and brother of Peter, brother-in-law to Margaret and uncle to Jack, his only nephew. (*denotes deceased)
Despite being part of a small immediate family, he was a cousin and friend to many in the large extended family both in NZ and overseas. Those who knew Stephen could see in him a truly compassionate soul, who gave many voluntary hours to Ross home and his other passion of singing in groups and choirs. His work driving the school busses for children needing special care and his devoted care to ageing parents Fred and Raylene using his (ex) nursing skills, testifies to his compassionate approach to all life.
